Ric Flair and Stone Cold talk about Cena surpassing Ric Flair's record
On the 17th episode of WOOOOO! Nation with Ric Flair, the "Nature Boy" welcomed Stone Cold as the special guest to the show.
In this podcast, both these legends spoke about many topics including Flair's 16 World Championships. Austin gave his views on Cena breaking Flair's record. He said that he could imagine Cena trying for it but couldn't do it. Even if Cena surpasses it, Flair's streak will always have an identity of its own to the WWE universe.
Austin added that Vince McMahon would do something to protect the specialty of this streak. Here is what he said-
"He'll make up something that if [Cena] gets to 17, his were all WWE and Ric's place is still special," given that eight of the titles were from NWA. Austin continued, "so with all due respect to John Cena, if he was to get to 17 and they eclipse your number 16, does it mean the same in a guy's book like mine, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, my thoughts? It's not even the same ballpark."
In response, Ric Flair told that he really doesn't mind if Cena breaks his record and he is not at all worried about this aspect. "I don't care. I don't think about it," Flair said. "I don't have any belts hanging in my room. I'm lucky. I have more fun than anybody alive. That I know for sure", said Flair.
In addition to this these two legends also spoke about Triple H vs. Sting at WrestleMania 31, why WWE won't sign AJ Styles, and much more. Austin added that Vince always maintains a log book for registering special records. "I won three Royal Rumbles and no one has surpassed that yet and that's only three Royal Rumbles," Austin said.
"For some reason, Vince has all this logged down in these books - he's very meticulous about how he protects certain things, so it will be very interesting", said Austin.
Ric Flair has no qualms about Cena breaking his record, whereas Austin thinks it won't happen. He and Austin had a very interesting chat and you can find the full conversation by clicking this link.
