What’s the story?

Former WWE superstar and current Ring of Honor star Cody Rhodes was recently asked on Twitter by a fan why his former company—referring to the WWE—doesn’t invite him to attend the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic finals.

In case you didn’t know…

Following his departure from the WWE in 2016, former WWE Intercontinental Champion, Cody Rhodes had made a huge name for himself on the Independent circuit after working for various promotions such as the likes of Alpha-1 Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Guerilla, Northeast Wrestling and more.

Despite his immense success in the Indy circuit, Rhodes has most notably worked for Ring of Honor Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling, where he is a current member of the legendary faction, the Bullet Club. Rhodes is also a former ROH World Champion, having won the belt from Christopher Daniels at ROH: Best in the World, 2017.

The heart of the matter

Earlier today, Twitter user @Omi_Goblin brought up a really interesting question on social media when he asked former WWE superstar Cody Rhodes on why the WWE doesn’t invite “The American Nightmare” to attend the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Classic which honors his late father Dusty Rhodes.

Rhodes in return, responded to the question by claiming that the WWE does indeed invite him every year in order to be present at the finals of NXT’s Dusty Rhodes Classic tag team tournament, however, according to the former ROH World Champion, the Dusty Classic finals is a moment that belongs to William Regal and his students.

Furthermore, Cody also added that WWE is certainly doing a great job in order to promote and protect the legacy and influence of his late great father, “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes.

What’s next?

Cody Rhodes will lock horns with Kenny Omega next weekend in New Orleans as part of ROH: Supercard of Honor XII.

Author’s Take

There is no denying to the fact that Dusty Rhodes did have a lot of influence in the Pro Wrestling industry and his legacy is certainly being protected in a very prestigious manner by the WWE.

As far as Cody Rhodes is concerned, I personally don’t think that the current Bullet Club member will make a return to the WWE anytime soon.
