WWE/ROH News: How the Young Bucks vs Hardys feud started
What's the story?
The Hardy Boyz and Young Bucks had a great feud in ROH in between The Hardy's time with Impact Wrestling and their WWE return at WrestleMania 33. Ring Of Honor COO Joe Koff recently spoke to FanBuzz where he revealed how that great series of matches came about.
In case you didn't know...
The Hardy Boyz were on their way to WWE, or at least that's what was being reported. Matt and Jeff returned to WWE in surprise fashion to invade the Raw Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 33. Matt climbed the ladder and pulled down the titles to make their WWE return a very successful one.
During the time between Impact Wrestling and WWE, the Hardy Boyz went to ROH where they feuded with The Young Bucks. The Hardys captured the ROH Tag Team Titles and held it until an eventual ladder match at Supercard Of Honor XI one day prior to winning a ladder match at WrestleMania.
The heart of the matter
ROH COO Joe Koff was very proud of the matches the Hardys and Jacksons could pull off under the Ring Of Honor banner. But he couldn't take full credit for it.
The Young Bucks came to me and they said we have this idea. And they told me that whole idea with the Hardyz. At the time, the Bucks are contracted to me, the Hardyz were contracted to TNA Impact at the time. I said this is a good idea. I think the Hardyz-Bucks match could have a lot of cache.
Koff said the angle between the two amazing teams could have kept going. But with The Hardy Boyz going back to WWE, it seemed like the right time to end it.
The story really ended in Lakeland. It could have continued, we could have built that angle further. But it didn’t end in Lakeland because they were going to WWE. It ended in Lakeland because that’s where it ended. It happened because of them, because they wanted to do it.
In the end, Joe Koff gave all the credit of the angle to The Young Bucks and The Hardys. They created some very special moments during Matt and Jeff's transition back into WWE.
What's next?
The Young Bucks and Hardys might be working for different companies now but they're still close. The two camps often send each other social media messages and maintain a friendly relationship.
It might only be a matter of time before these two teams find each other once again. But it would likely need to be under WWE's banner next time.
Author's take
If the Young Bucks don't make it to WWE it might not be the worst thing for them. It could possibly prevent them from locking up with The Hardys again, but with the amount of money they're making from their merchandise sales, they'd probably be more than okay.
