It was the matchup between the two oddball pairings that started off their journey in very similar ways.

The Miz was the one who had the idea about pairing with Shane McMahon, and he worked really hard to convince the SmackDown commissioner.

The duo finally became a tag team but started off by losing an impromptu match against a team of jobbers – Wayne & Dane Bryant.

Shane McMahon started things off with a spear straight after the bell rang and it looked like they were set to run away with the title.

However, Sheamus and Cesaro did well to get back into the match and were dominant for the majority of it.

However, things swiftly changed once again, and Shane O'Mac set up Cesaro on the Spanish announcer's table.

The Miz tried to keep the Swiss superstar on the table but Sheamus showed just why they have been the tag champions for a long time y coming to his partner's rescue just in time.

After a few exchanges between Shane and Sheamus, the Irish superstar was set up in the corner for a coast-to-coast. Cesaro tagged in behind Shane's back but couldn't do much as the SmackDown commissioner dropped him in the corner as well.

Shane was still unable to deliver the coast-to-coast as Cesaro caught him in mid-air and took him for the Cesaro Swing. The challenger still managed to keep his focus and caught The Swiss star in a triangle.

And just when it looked like the Swiss Cyborg was set to tap, Sheamus jumped in outta nowhere and kept the match alive. It looked like things were going to end for Shane and Miz when The Bar had the SmackDown commissioner set up for a Brogue kick but a timely intervention by The Miz saw Sheamus kick his own partner.

Shane McMahon then hit Cesaro with a shooting star and pinned the Swiss superstar to pick up the win for them!

The Miz and Shane McMahon are reportedly set to be in a one-on-one match at WrestleMania 35, and this was the perfect way to kick things off.

They already laid the groundwork by saying that The Miz's dad is proud of Shane after the 'best in the world' tournament. Looks like it won't be long before Miz turns on the commissioner and seal the match at WM35!
