WWE Rumor: Erick Rowan's current WWE position was actually intended for NXT call-up
What's the story?
Erick Rowan returned to WWE at The Royal Rumble where he was able to align himself with Daniel Bryan, but it appears that Rowan wasn't originally supposed to be in this role.
In case you didn't know...
Erick Rowan became well-known as a member of The Wyatt Family and a Tag Team Champion alongside Luke Harper when he was part of The Bludgeon Brothers. But it appears that his most recent role on WWE TV has seen him align himself with a man he once worked with in The Wyatt Family.
Rowan appeared alongside Harper and Bray Wyatt when The Wyatt Family was looking to recruit Daniel Bryan, a storyline that ultimately didn't work in their favor.
The heart of the matter
Rowan seems to have found his feet alongside Daniel Bryan over the past week, but according to Wade Keller on The Wade Keller Podcast, the role was originally supposed to go to Lars Sullivan.
"I think Lars Sullivan was slated for this spot. I mean it just totally would fit Lars’ character and how he was portrayed in NXT."
Sullivan hasn't been seen on WWE TV for a number of weeks after it was reported that he had suffered an anxiety attack backstage at Monday Night Raw and was given leave by the company. It is unknown what this means for his future in WWE.
What's next?
Rowan is still owed a Tag Team Championship rematch, which means that even though he's settled into his spot with Daniel Bryan, there is hope that Harper and Rowan will don the Bludgeon Brothers attire once more and dominate the SmackDown Tag Team Division.
