WWE Rumor Mill: Two major NXT stars to be called-up to the main roster following TakeOver: WarGames
Who will make the move to the main roster from NXT?What’s the story?
After an unbelievable night of action on NXT TakeOver: WarGames, the rumor mill is running wild in speculation there may be two major names that may be called up to the WWE main roster following the event.
In case you didn’t know…
NXT TakeOver: War Games II took place tonight and was the best NXT TakeOver event in a very long time, perhaps even the best show of the entire year. The show is tied in with the Survivor Series, which will take place tomorrow night, which leads to much speculation there may be a call-up or two happening very soon.
At WarGames, we saw Aleister Black defeat Johnny Gargano after not one, but two Black Masses (Spinning Roundhouse Kicks). Shayna Baszler retaining her NXT Women’s Championship over Kairi Sane after a big assist from Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match.
Tommaso Ciampa retained the NXT Championship over Velveteen Dream. Ricochet, Pete Dunn and The War Raiders defeated The Undisputed Era in a WarGames match to cap off an absolutely breathtaking night of action.
The heart of the matter
Earlier today before NXT TakeOver, as first reported by Ringsidenews.com, Joe Peisich from the No Holds Barred podcast claims that he heard about the potential of two NXT Superstars being called up following the show.
“Two of the guys from what I hear, two of the guys from what I hear of all the matches we’re going to talk about [during NXT TakeOver: WarGames] are gonna be called up to the main roster the following Monday or Tuesday for SmackDown. Could be Aleister Black, could be Johnny Gargano or it could be one Tommaso Ciampa (I don’t think if he’s going to retain the title) or the Velveteen Dream.”
What’s next?
With Tommaso Ciampa retaining the NXT Championship, it's rather difficult to imagine him being called up to the main roster any time soon.
WWE Survivor Series will be taking place tomorrow night. If any of the above is indeed true, could we see an appearance by Black, Gargano, or Dream? Perhaps on RAW or SmackDown Live, we could see the debut of one or two of these men. As they say in the WWE: “Never say never!”
