WWE Rumor Mill: What does AJ Styles want from new WWE contract?

What's the story?

Former WWE Champion AJ Styles has reportedly said he wants a more relaxed schedule, following months of contract negotiations between him and the company.

In case you didn't know

Debuting at the 2016 Royal Rumble, Styles has been one of the most prominently featured Superstars, feuding with the likes of John Cena, Chris Jericho, Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura.

In November 2017, Styles won his second WWE Championship, defeating Jinder Mahal in Manchester, England.

Last week on SmackDown Live, Styles lost the title to Daniel Bryan, ending his reign at 371 days.

The heart of the matter

According to a report from Fightful.com, Styles is hoping for a less active schedule, which would be similar to the one held by Randy Orton.

This would allow the Phenomenal One to still appear on TV, but have a reduced number of live event appearances, with Styles hopes would allow him to spend more time with his family.

The report also claims that it was Styles' idea for him to lose the title to Bryan last week on SmackDown Live, after a year as the top Superstar on the Blue brand meant he had very little time to be with his wife and children.

A different report has also alleged that the WWE and Styles are struggling to reach an agreement in these negotiations, that would see the former Champion sign with the company for another three years.

What's next?

Styles will presumably have a re-match for the WWE Championship in the very near future, possibly at the upcoming WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay per view.

WWE TLC will take place December 16, at the SAP Center, in San Jose, California, and will feature Superstars from RAW, SmackDown Live and 205 Live.
