Rumor round-up: Reigns to be World champion by WrestleMania?, Royal Rumble plans for Ambrose
The current landscape of the WWE has been taken over by the dominance of the Shield, which has been witnessed before, but this time around their all on their own. While Seth Rollins is enjoying his reign as the World Champion, his former brothers aren’t too far in the pecking order.
The decision to let Seth Rollins cash in his contract at WrestleMania and win his first major singles title was taken by Vince on the day of the mega event. From there on Seth has gone on to face big names such as Brock Lesnar, John Cena, and Sting to solidify himself as a bonafide heel of the company. But none of those stars are next to dethrone the slimy champ as WWE is planning on putting the belt around Roman Reign's waist come WrestleMania.
Reigns has been working his way up with the WWE echelon and has been improving at a steady pace, at the same time winning over the WWE Universe’s support. According to reports from Cagesideseats, WWE is planning on keeping Rollins the Champion until WrestleMania.
Although they have thought of the idea of him dropping the title earlier before, a sustained title reign for more than a year is what the officials envision for ‘The Architect’ which would eclipse the feat of Randy Savage who also had a reign of more than a year during his first run with the top prize, which shows you the faith the WWE have in Seth.
As noted by Joe Burgett, WWE plans on putting Roman Reigns once again in the main event at WrestleMania for the second consecutive year running and are contemplating the idea of him being the next World Heavyweight Champion. Considering the fact that Rollins wrecked Roman’s crowning moment, leveling the score by Reigns getting redemption makes sense from a storyline perspective.
It doesn't point to another Royal Rumble victory for Reigns, but knowing the WWE, they have something up their sleeve.
When it comes to the Royal Rumble, according to reports from Inquisitr, the WWE’s plans indicate a Rumble win for Dean Ambrose which would set up a triple threat main event on the grandest stage of them all. It is rumored that Reigns would face Rollins at Fastlane but would see some sort of a swerve that involves Ambrose to set up a triple threat showdown for the title at WrestleMania.
The WWE is going all out to ensure these three talented superstars are given the spotlight on the huge platform, which should be the case. Dean Ambrose is unlikely to win the title at WrestleMania if the triple threat match does go through, but Roman is the best bet considering the fact that the fans are finally appreciating his efforts that would culminate in a much deserved WrestleMania win.
It would be great to watch the three tear the house down by putting on an instant classic and would also spawn a memorable WrestleMania moment that can be cherished for years to come. Whether the WWE makes it a reality is to be seen but WretleMania 32 looks promising indeed.
