WWE Rumor Roundup: Huge match planned for Royal Rumble, Vince McMahon unhappy with RAW Superstar and more – 5th December 2019
In today's roundup, we take a look at Seth Rollins' unique idea for a faction and original plans for Kevin Owens in the 2019 Draft. But before you head into that, make sure you listen to Sportskeeda's brand new podcast, The Rosser Rewind:
Now, let's take a look at the top headline-makers of the day:
Huge match planned for Royal Rumble
WWE are planting the seeds for the Royal Rumble even though they have a pay-per-view later this month. They are keen on having Becky Lynch take on Asuka as per Sportskeeda's Tom Colohue. On the latest episode of Dropkick DiSKussions, he said:
"This is why we're not seeing much of Becky Lynch, so she gets a big pop this coming Monday where she runs out and saves Charlotte.”
"They've been building a feud with Asuka, on the foreground and background, sort of. I can see that being a singles rematch next year at the Royal Rumble. Last year we had the exact same match at the Rumble for the other brand's championship and Asuka tapped Becky Lynch out, so I could see that being a rematch".
Asuka and Kairi Sane have been fighting Charlotte for the last couple of weeks and were involved in a handicap match this week.
Vince McMahon unhappy with RAW Superstar
Dio Maddin was attacked by Brock Lesnar a month ago during commentary and he has been absent ever since. WWE announced this week that Dio was set to return as a wrestler and will not be in commentary anymore.
Wrestling Observer Live are now reporting that it was a decision made by Vince McMahon and not Dio had come up with. Bryan Alvarez said:
“I don’t know if Dio Maddin himself is gonna get mad but I’m sure we’ll hear that this is not accurate but this is what happened. Vince and Kevin Dunn didn’t like Dio Maddin on commentary and they took him off commentary and I think they were gonna try to re-train him or whatever to do commentary but now I guess he’s decided he wants to be a wrestler again.”
“I’m sure the official story is going to be that he just decided while doing commentary that he wanted to be a wrestler...”
Samoa Joe has replaced Dio Maddin on the RAW commentary table.
