WWE Rumors: 55-year-old veteran returning on a full-time basis after 11 yearsÂ
What's the story?
A report from PWInsider states that WWE has brought back Bruce Prichard into the company's fold on a full-time basis. The report also revealed his date of joining and the role he is expected to assume upon his return.
In case you didn't know...
Prichard is popularly known for his eccentric Brother Love gimmick and for being the first manager of The Undertaker in 1990. He would eventually take up a pivotal role behind the scenes and was said to be Vince McMahon's right-hand man from 1992 to 2008. He oversaw the writing throughout the Attitude Era and is highly regarded for his contributions during WWE's golden age.
He was released from the WWE in 2008 after which he joined TNA as the Vice President of Programming and Talent Relations for WWE's rivals.
He has appeared on both WWE and TNA TV sporadically in different angles over the years, and successfully set up his own podcast called Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard. He appeared on Raw's 25th-year-anniversary episode as Brother Love.
Prichard is a master storyteller who often reveals insightful tidbits from how things were behind the scenes in the WWE on his podcast.
The heart of the matter
PWInsider notes that Prichard will begin working for the WWE again this Monday onwards and will reportedly have a major backstage role which has been termed 'as important as possible'.
He is most likely expected to be working closely with Vince McMahon and should resume his previous duties of overseeing the creative decisions taken on Monday Night Raw.
What's next?
Prichard is a true veteran of pro wrestling whose experience would certainly help WWE at a time when there's growing competition from the likes of All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
WWE has been accused of putting forth a stale product and we can only hope Prichard comes in and brings about a much-needed change from a creative standpoint.
