WWE Rumors: AJ Styles expected to be back in the WWE title picture after Wrestlemania.
What’s the story?
A.J. Styles will likely be re-inserted into SmackDown’s WWE Championship picture after he faces Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 33, according to Cageside Seats
In case you didn’t know...
Styles who’s a 19-year veteran of the professional wrestling industry, won his first WWE Championship in September of last year by dethroning Dean Ambrose, then went on to lose his belt to John Cena in January of this year. He’s currently involved in a feud against WWE’s part-owner, on-screen SmackDown commissioner and part-time performer Shane McMahon.
The heart of the matter
Wrestlemania 33 will mark Styles’ second appearance at The Showcase of the Immortals, in a singles matchup against Shane O’Mac. Now although it’s more than obvious that the WWE would ‘put over’ Styles with a win over Shane, what’s interesting is that they intend to use the momentum from his Mania win to once again include him into the WWE Championship picture.

Furthermore, with the blue brand’s biggest prize being contested in a match between Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton- a rivalry that not many fans are too pleased with- WWE Creative will most definitely look to add a much-needed boost to the SmackDown title picture by involving Styles.
What’s next?
AJ Styles will face Shane McMahon at Wrestlemania 33 on April 2nd at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida, in a singles match.
Author’s take
I, for one, feel AJ is being built in the correct manner to become a potential headliner for the company, say for the next five years. And granted that Shane isn’t a wrestler of say Kevin Owens or Samoa Joe’s calibre, but he still is the man who jumped from atop a Hell In A Cell cage in his Wrestlemania 32 bout against The Undertaker.
It’s safe to say that this year’s Mania bookings have been less than stellar, to put it mildly. But with that being said, when Styles beats Shane O’Mac on the grandest stage of them all, the WWE will manage to ‘get him over’ with the millions and millions of fans that’ll tune in. That in turn, would somewhat justify his quick re-inclusion into SmackDown’s post-Mania championship storyline, given that he just lost the strap this January.
Nevertheless, ‘The Phenomenal One’ seems to be destined for greatness in the WWE.
