Vince McMahon reportedly unhappy with AJ Styles
January 24th marked the successful debut of AJ Styles, but apparently, he was already on the receiving end of some backstage heat from Vince McMahon. In a report from Inquisitr, McMahon wasn’t pleased because Styles signed a contract with Figures Inc. before joining the WWE.
Styles is using his well-known and trademarked name in the WWE, which Figures Inc. may capitalize on when the former TNA Champion receives a credible push. It has been reported that McMahon dislikes companies who use his performers to make money.
A glaring example is Kevin Owens, who took two clean losses at the hands of John Cena because he reportedly signed a deal with Figures Inc. before signing with the WWE. The toy company released a Kevin Owens action figure when the PrizeFighter made the jump to the main roster, that further added to the reported heat.
It is still not sure whether the heat would prove to be a setback for Styles, who is still finding his feet in the WWE. The Phenomenal one is set to take on Chris Jericho in a rematch in the upcoming episode of RAW, with a possible Y2J heel turn on the cards.
Styles has been quite over with the WWE Universe since day one, and naturally, WWE wouldn’t want to break the momentum by booking him badly.
