WWE Rumors: An update on Ronda Rousey's WWE status post-WrestleMania

Is Rousey leaving for good?
Is Rousey leaving for good?

What's the story?

The WWE Universe has been rocked today by the news that Ronda Rousey may very well be finishing up with WWE at WrestleMania 35 - just one year after her in-ring debut.

Well, Pro Wrestling Sheet have now provided a huge update regarding the situation.

In case you didn't know...

Last year, it was announced that Ronda Rousey had signed with WWE on a multi-year, full time contract - but the RAW Women's Champion has made no secret of her desire to start a family with husband Travis Browne.

Back in November, Rousey said on her YouTube channel...

I can’t wrestle forever because I feel like I’m failing my family. I wouldn’t be leaving home unless it was to do the most fantastic things ever and I really really do enjoy it and love it. But all that energy I spend on the WWE is energy I don’t spend on my family.

The heart of the matter

The Wrestling Observer shocked the wrestling world by reporting that there’s a “very good chance that Ronda Rousey will be finished up with WWE at WrestleMania.”

Pro Wrestling Sheet has today claimed that the rumours regarding Ronda Rousey "leaving WWE" have been hugely exaggerated, although there is a plan in place for the RAW Women's Champion to take, at the very least, a lengthy break after WrestleMania 35.

Pro Wrestling Sheet's Ryan Satin confirmed that sources noted that WWE agreed, while signing Rousey, that the UFC star could take time away if she wanted to start a family - and that Rousey informed them of that intention after Survivor Series - saying that the break would probably come after WrestleMania, but that it's not yet set in stone.

Rousey's deal, though, is confirmed to be a multi-year deal with the option of a hiatus to start a family. Interestingly, The Wrestling Observer’s initial report noted that, while Rousey may step out of the ring, she’d probably remain with the company in an ambassadorial role at the very least going forward.

What's next?

Only time will tell. I guess we'll get a big hint at what the future holds for Rousey when we know more about her WrestleMania opponent or opponents. Ronda Rousey will defend her RAW Women's Championship against Sasha Banks at the Royal Rumble this Sunday.
