WWE Rumors: Backstage reason why Charlotte Flair replaced Becky Lynch in the Wrestlemania main event
What's the story?
Even though the general feeling is that Charlotte Flair is being added to the Wrestlemania main event because of the "real world" resentment on how she has been booked, the truth is very different.
As per Wrestling Observer Radio (via Cagesideseats.com), the reason for the change in the Wrestlemania main event is not due to recent events but has, in fact, been the plan for a long time.
In case you didn't know...
Becky Lynch won the 2019 Women's Royal Rumble match and decided to face Ronda Rousey for the RAW Women's Championship at Wrestlemania 35.
However, a spat with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon led to the chairman Vince McMahon getting upset and suspending Becky Lynch for 60 days, which would mean she will miss Wrestlemania this year. He then substituted Lynch with her friend turned foe Charlotte Flair in the Women's Championship match, much to the ire of all the fans.
The heart of the matter
Becky Lynch has lashed out at the decision on social media and so have all her fans. However, this seems to be part of a storyline that was planned long in advance.
The Man is clearly the most over Superstar on the roster as of now, and there is no way that WWE will keep her out of the Wrestlemania main event.
There is a possibility that Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair will face off yet again to determine who will be heading to Wrestlemania. A triple threat between the three female athletes also cannot be ruled out as a possible outcome.
What's next?
Wrestlemania 35 will take place on April 7, 20,19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, so WWE still has a lot of time to complete the buildup.
