WWE Rumors: Backstage update on The Revival asking for their release
What's the story?
We reported last night that former NXT Tag Team Champions and current Monday Night Raw Superstars The Revival have allegedly requested their release.
Dave Meltzer has today reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that they have indeed asked for their release, and confirmed WWE's position on the matter.
In case you didn't know...
The Revival were one of the top teams in NXT, having won the Tag Team Championships twice, but Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson have found that form hard to replicate since making the move to the main roster, with the team being seen rarely and underutilised when they have grabbed some TV time on RAW.
The "top guys" have made no secret of their desire to face off against The Young Bucks, after being referenced in Being the Elite in a move that saw wrestling fans across the globe lobby for a match between the teams.
The heart of the matter
In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has confirmed that The Revival have indeed asked for their release, but that it has not been granted.
The Revival, after their win over Kalisto & Metalik on the 1/13 Raw, while still in their gear, asked for their release. As of press time, they haven't been given their release.
The piece then goes on to say that their status is unlikely to change.
The word we got is that nobody who asks for their release right now is expected to be given it for obvious reasons.
What's next?
Well, only time will tell whether The Revival are granted their release, but you'd have to think it would seem unlikely that WWE would essentially gift some of their stars to the competition.
