WWE Rumors: Battleground expected to be a filler PPV until SummerSlam
A week from this Sunday, WWE Battleground pay-per-view will be taking place in the Verizon Center, Washington DC. This will be the first pay-per-view after the WWE Draft which will be telecast during SmackDown Live on July 19th . Though the match card features several championship bouts, it would be prudent for fans to not expect much from this upcoming pay-per-view.
As pointed out by cagesideseats.com, Battleground will be a lead-in for the biggest event of the summer, WWE SummerSlam. Due to the draft, WWE will be saving the major plans for August’s big pay-per-view.
Former WWE Champion Randy Orton will be appearing in Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel at Battleground. This segment will mark the first appearance of the Viper since October.
The match card for this event has shaped up like this :
Dean Ambrose(c) vs Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins for the WWE Championship
The Miz(c) vs Darren Young for the WWE Intercontinental Championship
Rusev(c) vs Zack Ryder for the WWE United States Championship
Becky Lynch vs Natalya
Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn
John Cena, Enzo Amore and Big Cass vs Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows, AJ Styles (The Club)
Kofi Kingston, Big E and Xavier Woods (The New Day) vs Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman and Eric Rowan (The Wyatt Family)
Charlotte and Dana Brook vs Sasha Banks and a partner of her choice.
