WWE Rumors: Big update on John Cena injury, will he wrestle at the Royal Rumble 2019?
What's the story?
John Cena is one of the biggest names in professional wrestling history. WWE has now dubbed him as the "greatest of all time". However, ahead of last night's RAW, WWE announced that John Cena was injured and could be out of the Royal Rumble?
Is Cena's injury legit and will he miss the Rumble? Let's take a closer look.
In case you didn't know...
Shortly before last night's episode of RAW, the company announced that John Cena had reaggravated a pre-existing injury which could rule the 16-time champion out of the Royal Rumble match on Sunday.
However, there another important winkling to this story and this is Lars Sullivan.
According to reports, Sullivan was supposed to debut on RAW a couple of weeks ago and destroy John Cena to start a program with him. However, Sullivan reportedly had a nervous breakdown and was sent home.
It looks like that storyline may be shelved for now and this could be a reason for Cena to have been absent from RAW.
The heart of the matter
The big question in everyone's mind right now is whether Cena is actually injured.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider said that the injury was most probably kayfabe because John Cena wasn't even backstage at RAW to begin with. Johnson also added that Cena's filming schedule will last from 4th February to 1st April which will leave WWE with a short window to establish a match for Cena at WrestleMania.
What's next?
WIll John Cena wrestle at the Royal Rumble? It's anybody's guess right now but if I had to guess I would say yes. Cena is a huge draw and with his film schedule starting in February, WWE will do everything they can to ensure that Cena is in the Rumble match even if it's for a few minutes.
