WWE Rumors: Bill Goldberg to turn heel before his match with Brock Lesnar?
The upcoming return of former WCW Star Goldberg on the upcoming episode of Monday Night Raw is one of the most awaited comebacks of professional wrestling in the past several years. ans from all over the world are eagerly waiting to see the former World Champion inside a WWE ring once again.
So from a business perspective, it's a no-brainer that the best way to introduce the WCW veteran to modern wrestling fans would be to make him a monster babyface while going against Brock Lesnar, or wouldn't it?
According to a report from Inquisitr, WWE could give its fans a big shocker prior to the upcoming Survivor Series PPV and turn Goldberg a heel before his rumored match against the Beast.
These reports are based on the fact that Survivor Series this year will be taking place at the unpredictable territory of Toronto, Canada.
If we take a look at the history of Goldberg's appearances in the region, it looks more than likely that the heel turn may happen. It is expected that the the former WWE Heavyweight Champion will be met with criticism from the live audience in the arena after the initial hype of his return dies down.
As SummerSlam also ended with fans showing their grief against the finish, WWE would not want Survivor Series to suffer the same fate. It certainly looks like a possibility that they could turn Goldberg heel at the Raw before the event or at the PPV itself to justify the heat.
This would also make sense if WWE has plans for Goldberg to compete in multiple matches after his return. As a heel, Goldberg could not only continue his feud with Lesnar by carrying it all the way till WrestleMania, but he could also help in putting young superstars over before finally hanging his boots.
It's worth noticing here that Goldberg has had a rough record when it comes to crowd reaction in the Canadian territory.
In fact, he was mercilessly booed by the fans in his last match in Canada against Ric Flair despite being a face at the time. Randy Orton was cheered when he interfered in the match and struck the former WCW star with a chair.
A big reason behind the negative reaction is believed to be the fact that wrestling legend Bret Hart, who is Canadian-born, has accused the former WCW champion multiple times for ending his career with a misplaced kick during a match in December 1999.
What really happens and if WWE really makes Goldberg a heel is yet to be seen but for now, these reports have definitely triggered a big debate among fans.
