WWE Rumors: Carlito, MVP and Stevie Richards contacted to return to WWE
It was reported yesterday that the WWE is attempting to re-sign a bunch of former greats in Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio, Bill Goldberg and Jeff Hardy. We hear today that a few more veterans and former Superstars are on their list.
Stevie Richards, Carlito and MVP are also being considered for the rosters post the brand split, according to Wrestling Observer Radio. Dave Meltzer avoided mentioning any more names, but said that “everyone that's available is getting at least inquiries”.
One wrestler who was approached said that there was more money coming in now, performing in the indy circuit than what was made on a full-time WWE contract.
Stevie Richards was last seen in the WWE(ECW) in 2008, the last year in his nine-year stint with the company. He held the Hardcore Championship on multiple occasions. He wrestled for TNA and now performs in Ring Of Honor. He is also the WildKat Wrestling Revolution Champion.
MVP had a short but successful stint with the WWE from 2007 to 2010, winning the United States Championship and the Tag Team Championship. He went on to wrestle in NJPW and TNA. He was released from his Lucha Underground contract after inadvertently violating the terms of his contract by interviewing fellow performers before episodes were to air.
Carlito spent six years with the WWE from 2004 to 2010. His run after he violated the company’s Wellness Policy and refused to go to a rehabilitation facility for an addiction to painkillers. He won the US Championship, Intercontinental Championship and the tag team titles during his tenure.
