WWE Rumors: Cody and the Young Bucks reportedly turned down seven-figure WWE offers
What's the story?
We already knew that Pro Wrestling's Cody and the Young Bucks had turned down their WWE offers thanks to the latest 'Being the Elite' and statements from both of them, but according to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the 'All In' stars may have turned down a huge amount of money, heading into a rumoured seven figures.
In case you didn't know...
Unless you've been living under a rock these days, you will probably be aware that Cody, The Bucks and other people rumored to be involved like Chris Jericho and Jim Ross are set to start their own promotion, tentatively labelled 'All Elite Wrestling', or AEW.
The Elite recently said goodbye to Ring of Honor with Adam 'Hangman' Page, Cody and The Young Bucks officially leaving the promotion. All of these wrestlers are also expected to leave New Japan Pro Wrestling sometime after next year's Wrestle Kingdom.
The heart of the matter
The future of the 'Elite' wrestling stable has been somewhat in the air, but has begun to get clearer over the last couple of weeks with the ROH departure and the announcements that WWE deals have been turned down.
This seems to be because the group have their heart set on starting their own promotion, AEW, as I've already mentioned above. But if Dave Meltzer is correct, they may be sacrificing huge money deals by turning down the WWE.
Three of the four turned down WWE main event money, multi-year deals for more than seven figures annually. That idea is one that almost nobody in wrestling could have possibly conceived of being offered, let alone turned down, as recently as a year ago.
What's next?
The 'three of the four' that Dave mentions are Cody, Nick and Matt Jackson. Adam 'Hangman' Page, Marty Scurll and Kenny Omega are yet to turn their WWE deals down, which means the 'Elite' could still split up at this stage.
