WWE Rumors: Company wants Seth Rollins' heel run to be like that of former WWE Champion
There has been a lot of speculation regarding the current character of Seth Rollins and whether he is a face or a heel. While Rollins is in no way behaving like a conventional face, his actions are far from that of a bona fide heel.
Here is what Cagesideseats had to say in regards to Rollins' heel run:
For what it’s worth, Dave Meltzer speculated on Wrestling Observer Radio that Seth Rollins in his current run is supposed to be like Bret Hart was in 1997.
It is interesting that WWE wants to see Seth Rollins fill in the boots of Hall of Famer and multi-time WWE Champion Bret Hart. Hart famously had a heel run in 1997 after being a babyface for a long time, and the move was well-received in most corners.
Last week on RAW, Rollins had called in a town hall meeting in which he reprimanded the entire RAW locker room for losing face at Survivor Series against NXT. The Architect then went on to take personal shots at Superstars such as Randy Orton and Rey Mysterio, much to the displeasure of the roster and the fans.
Heel or face?
Rollins continued to tease his annoying new character when he called himself 'the head of the family' on RAW this week. Recent reports suggested that Rollins' idea of his current character is that of a slow-burn heel where he continues to believe that he is a babyface while acting as a heel would.
Even though the former WWE Champion was much loved by the WWE Universe as the face of the company, it was clear during his feud with Bray Wyatt that the fans had outgrown their adulation for him. He was constantly booed by the fans even though he was the 'good guy.'
