WWE Rumors: Controversy over Mauro Ranallo speaking in interviews

Will Mauro ever commentate for WWE again?

What's the story?

According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there's a touch of controversy surrounding Mauro Ranallo and his ability to speak out about the company in interviews. Ranallo has been a part of the WWE for nearly 18 months now having joined the company back in late 2015.

In case you didn't know...

Mauro Ranallo has been all over the news in the world of wrestling over the last few weeks due to his absence from WWE television. As we've now learned, one of the reasons he's stepped away from the commentary table is due to reported bullying from WWE veteran John "Bradshaw" Layfield.

The company has yet to make a statement on the matter.

The heart of the matter

In the aforementioned report, it is stated that Ranallo is under contract with the WWE until August 12th, 2017. The contract forbids him to give unauthorised interviews regarding the company and it's understood that WWE is working hard to come to a settlement that would see Ranallo stay quiet about the whole ordeal.

What's next?

It seems like this saga is far from over at this point, especially considering how many people are getting behind the "Fire JBL" movement. For example, this past week's edition of SmackDown Live saw a multitude of fans chant for the dismissal of the former WWE Champion following the numerous allegations that have come out in the last month or so.

Author's take

All signs are pointing towards JBL being guilty but in terms of thinking about things from a business perspective, this is a smart move by the WWE. Putting something of a gagging order on Ranallo certainly isn't the right thing to do in a moral sense, but if you look back to what happened with CM Punk, it's not surprising to see them wanting to cover all bases with this.
