WWE Rumors: Dean Ambrose could change his mind about leaving
What's the story?
The big news today is that Dean Ambrose has informed WWE he won't be renewing his contract when it expires in April and will consequently be leaving the company, something that WWE themselves bizarrely released a statement confirming today.
However, Mike Johnson from PWInsider has indicated that WWE officials are hopeful a deal can still be done to keep Ambrose in the company.
In case you didn't know...
Dean Ambrose lost to Seth Rollins on Monday Night Raw in what could be his final main roster television match for the company, as he's still expected to tour with WWE and appear at live shows until his deal is done.
After the match, Ambrose attempted to cut a promo baring his soul to the WWE Universe but was interrupted by Nia Jax and Tamina whose match was next. Jax even attacked Ambrose on his way out of the ring.
The heart of the matter
Mike Johnson discussed Dean Ambrose's WWE status on PWInsider Elite radio following the shocking news today and clarified a few things, he is still touring with WWE as we mentioned above and perhaps more interestingly, it's not over yet!
"As of today the plan is that he'll be done by the end of April, or May 1st would be the final date on his deal. We've heard both dates, so it's either April or May. He is still on the road with the company. He's going to be touring with the company until then.
And, as someone from the company told me, he's still under contract. They can always come back and make him an offer to make him happy. Whether it be financial, whether it be a shorter schedule, whether it be a shorter-term contract. The story is not done yet."
Whilst this is mostly Johnson's thoughts it is interesting that someone from the company is reiterating that there is still time for WWE and Ambrose to come to terms with a deal that would prevent him from leaving.
What's next?
It's unclear what will happen from this point. There are those who believe this might be an elaborate work from WWE and those who think Ambrose is legitimately done. It's a bizarre situation because it could change at any moment unless Ambrose has his mind set on leaving and nothing the WWE offer could change his mind.
The biggest telling factor will be whether or not he remains on Monday Night Raw television in an active capacity.
