WWE Rumors: Jeff Hardy is being groomed for a match with Brock Lesnar

Jeff might have an opportunity to topple the Beast

What’s the story?

According to our sources, Jeff Hardy may be all set to face the reigning, defending, undisputed WWE Universal champion, Brock Lesnar, in the near future.

In case you didn’t know...

The WWE was reportedly interested in bringing Jeff Hardy back to the company last year for a singles run before the Broken gimmick took off in Impact Wrestling.

Jeff Hardy parted ways with the WWE back in 2009, however, the company never wanted him to leave, to begin with, given the fact that he was the leading merchandise seller in the company behind only John Cena at the time.

The heart of the matter

The Hardy brothers quit Impact Wrestling earlier this year and made a surprise return to the WWE, winning the RAW tag team titles at WrestleMania 33. Nevertheless, it’s essential to note that neither Matt nor Jeff has been able to go all out in their usage of the Broken gimmick in WWE, owing to a ‘Cease and Desist’ order issued to them by Impact’s new owners, Anthem Sports and Entertainment.

WWE management has presently signed both brothers to full-time contracts despite their ongoing legal issues, however, our sources suggest that Vince McMahon isn’t too high on the Broken gimmick. The boss, instead, is reportedly interested in according Jeff Hardy a main-event push and pitting him against ‘The Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar.

Furthermore, with Lesnar scheduled to hold the title until WrestleMania 34, creative has more than enough time to potentially split the Hardy Boyz and book Jeff in a singles run that will conclude in a collision with The Beast in the near future.

What’s next?

The Hardy Boyz are set to defend their RAW tag-team titles at WWE’s upcoming Payback pay-per-view on April 30th. The event also features a match that will determine the number-1 contender for Lesnar’s Universal title, when Braun Strowman faces off against Roman Reigns.

Author’s take

I, for one, would love to see the Hardys perform as tag-team competitors and introduce the WWE Universe to their wildly popular Broken personas. Nevertheless, you won’t see me complain if the WWE decides to send Jeff to Suplex City. After all, who wouldn’t love to see the Charismatic Enigma death-defying daredevil against The Beast.

What a crazy time to be a WWE fan, folks!
