WWE Rumors: Latest update on AJ Styles' injury doesn't sound good

Will Styles be fit for Elimination Chamber?
Will Styles be fit for Elimination Chamber?

What's the story?

The injury bug has struck the WWE yet again as Sasha Banks, Seth Rollins and AJ Styles have all been reportedly nursing respective injuries.

With regards to the Phenomenal One, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer revealed what could potentially be perceived as a bad update regarding Styles' immediate future. The former WWE Champion reportedly has a hernia which certainly casts some doubts on his availability on the road to WrestleMania 35.

In case you didn't know...

AJ Styles took on Daniel Bryan in an unsuccessful attempt at capturing the WWE Championship at Royal Rumble 2019. Styles was involved in a chaotic brawl this past week on SmackDown that also involved Mustafa Ali, Jeff Hardy, Samoa Joe, and Randy Orton.

Triple H appeared on the big screen after the altercation and announced a six-man Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship. Bryan will put the strap on the line against all the aforementioned names who were involved in the physical segment.

Even though styles did get physical last week, he was noticeably absent during SmackDown's recent round of live events. The question remains, will Styles be cleared to compete at the upcoming PPV?

The heart of the matter

As reported by Meltzer, Styles is currently dealing with a Hernia, however, we still don't know about the severity of the injury. Styles may have to take a few weeks off if he is forced to undergo an emergency surgery but that's just speculation as of this writing.

Meltzer said, "AJ has a hernia. I don’t know where that would stand as far as tomorrow goes. That’s the injury.”

Roman Reigns went through a similar situation back in September 2014 when he was taken off WWE TV for two months in order to go under the knife to treat an incarcerated Hernia.

What's next?

We should ideally get a clear picture of the situation with Styles on tomorrow's episode of SmackDown Live. All we can do is to keep our fingers crossed and hope that Styles doesn't need surgery and can be fit in time for the PPV on February 17, 2019. If not Elimination Chamber, WWE can't do without Styles at the Show of Shows.
