Luke Harper recently returned to WWE television to join forces with long-time ally Erick Rowan in his rivalry with Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan.

However, speaking to Korey Gunz on the latest episode of Sportskeeda’s Dropkick DiSKussions, Tom Colohue reported that the former Wyatt Family member was only brought back to television because WWE needed an extra Superstar to get involved in the conclusion of the storyline between Rowan and Reigns.

“It seems very likely to me he is going back into creative hiatus, hopefully not for long. Hopefully, we’ll see him on Friday [on SmackDown] and they’ll have an actual plan for this. But, to my knowledge, at the moment there is no plan for Luke Harper. He was pulled in late just as a way to pop that story, make it very concise, and wrap it up in a neat little bow.”

While Rowan moved to RAW as a singles Superstar in the 2019 WWE draft, Harper went undrafted and was later revealed as a free agent signing for the SmackDown brand.

Colohue added that the one-time Intercontinental Champion, who requested his release in April 2019, remains unhappy and he is still hoping to leave WWE.

“He is not happy. That’s not changed. He has been put in a very difficult position in that they don’t use him but won’t let him leave, and so we’re going to get moments where he tries to force their hand, which is something that has happened recently on Twitter, for example. He wants to move on. He wants to be used.”

Luke Harper’s WWE career in 2019

Luke Harper made his return from a wrist injury by defeating Mojo Rawley at a live event in his hometown of Rochester, New York in March 2019.

He went on to defeat Dominik Dijakovic at the Worlds Collide event in April 2019 before participating in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 35, but he then publicly asked for his release from WWE in a statement on Twitter.

It looked for several months as though the former Bludgeon Brother, whose contract reportedly expires in 2020, was never going to appear on WWE television again. However, he surprisingly returned at Clash of Champions to help Erick Rowan defeat Roman Reigns, while he teamed with Rowan in a losing effort against Reigns and Daniel Bryan at Hell in a Cell.

As Tom Colohue mentioned, Harper has been vocal on social media about his position in WWE. He recently removed his controversial Twitter bio, which suggested that WWE had threatened to fine him for swearing online.
