WWE Rumors: New backstage details regarding company's decision on the future of the brand split

While WWE had announced that the recent draft would mean that the 'Wild Card' rule would end, we are yet to see Superstars of a particular brand staying put on their respective shows.

At the Crown Jewel PPV, we saw The Fiend - who was a SmackDown Superstar - take on RAW Superstar Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship. While many believed that to be an exception, the lines between the brand split remained blurred thanks to the Survivor Series build which saw Superstars from one brand 'invading' the other brands on a weekly basis.

The most recent example of the ambiguous brand split was Kevin Owens showing up on NXT Takeover: WarGames 3, while the former Universal Champion is part of Team RAW for Survivor Series.

Here is what Cagesideseats has stated for the future of the brand split following Survivor Series:

The idea is to go back to the hard brand split right after Survivor Series, per Wrestling Observer Radio.

What could be next for Kevin Owens?

It is not clear as of now if Owens will join the NXT roster full-time or if his appearance on Takeover was just a one-off.

Last Monday Triple H had made his way to RAW in an attempt to convince Owens to join the NXT team, however, even before Owens could respond he was brutally attacked by The Undisputed Era. So, Owens joining Ciampa's team at WarGames could merely be The Prizefighter taking revenge on Adam Cole and his friends.

Even though the addition of Owens to the NXT roster would be a major one, I would think that he would be more useful on RAW than he would on the Black and Yellow brand.
