WWE Rumors: Possible reason why Finn Balor is set for a gimmick change
What’s the story?
Finn Balor is set to go for a short break after SummerSlam, and it is being reported that he will return 'reinvented'. Whether he is set for a gimmick change or if he will undergo slight changes is unknown, but Sportskeeda's Tom Colohue has an update on why WWE want this change.
A WWE source has informed him that Balor as the Demon King is more marketable for the company while the original Balor isn't. That apparently is also the reason why they have been pushing nicknames and gimmicks on him.
In case you didn’t know…
Balor dropped the Intercontinental Championship to Shinsuke Nakamura at Extreme Rules and is now set to take a break from WWE. The Demon King is in a feud with the returning Bray Wyatt and is expected to face him at SummerSlam before going on his break.
The heart of the matter
Reports suggest that Vince McMahon was open to letting him take some time off as he needed to 'recharge his batteries', but he had to put The Fiend over before leaving. It looks like WWE are going to be using this break to change a few things about Balor to make him more marketable.
“The feeling I get is that the Demon King is viewed as marketable, but the ordinary Finn Balor isn't. That's why they keep trying to force nicknames and gimmicks on to him.” a WWE source told Sportskeeda's Tom Colohue.
What’s next?
With so much talk of the break, it looks like WWE will also be using it to change Balor's gimmick as well. Right now, there is no news whether he would return and be a part of The Club now known as The O.C. straight away or if there are other plans in the pipeline for him.
Moreover, Balor is recently engaged to Veronica Rodriguez, and the timing of the break is perfect for him in all ways.
