WWE Rumors: Reason why Vince McMahon didn't want Randy Orton to wrestle on RAW

This past week on WWE RAW, we saw a six-man tag team match close the show. The OC faced off against Rey Mysterio, Ricochet and Humberto Carrillo, and the match ended with The OC picking up the win.

But the show did not end there as Randy Orton arrived at the ring and landed an RKO on Styles to close the show.

According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this wasn't the original storyline pitched to end the show. Rey Mysterio was reportedly supposed to arrive at the ring and aid the babyface trio, but it was changed to Orton playing that role by Vince McMahon, in a meeting before the show.

The idea was for Orton to hit the RKO on Styles to end the show, for which Styles had to win the tag team match. McMahon didn't want Mysterio or Carrillo to take the pin, which meant that Ricochet had to take it.

In the end, Orton took up what was meant to be Mysterio's role in the storyline, and has now set up a possible feud with Styles.

Earlier on the show, Orton was challenged to arrive at the ring by Drew McIntyre, but McIntyre then backed off after The OC arrived. Styles was not happy at Orton as he cost him the United States title. The OC then attacked Orton, which led to Mysterio, Ricochet and Carrillo arriving at the ring to save Orton.

Orton then declined the babyface trio's help in battling with The OC.

It seems like we're heading towards a match between Randy Orton and AJ Styles, which could perhaps take place at next weekend's TLC PPV - the final PPV of 2019.
