WWE Rumors: Reason why Shield vs. Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson and Finn Balor is not happening anytime soon

Will we ever see The Sheild go up against The Club?

What’s the story?

On the April 16th instalment of Dave Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer Radio podcast, the veteran pro wrestling journalist was asked about the possibility of having Reigns, Ambrose and Seth Rollins face off against Balor, Gallows and Anderson at a future date.

Meltzer mentioned that he doesn’t seem too hopeful about Balor joining up with Gallows and Anderson in the nearest future. He then added that he would love to see Balor as a heel but WWE seems to have plans to promote him as a face right now according to his sources.

Thus. the reunited Shield vs Balor Club match seems very unlikely at the moment, but Big Dave is sure it will happen eventually.

In case you didn’t know...

Back in NJPW and Ring of Honor, Finn Balor (then Prince Devitt) used to run the Bullet Club with Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson along with Tama Tonga, Bad Luck Fale and the Young Bucks, to name a few. It all started when Devitt turned on his tag team partner Ryusuke Taguchi and made a heel turn.

The Shield was created shortly after NXT fan-favorites Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins made their main roster debuts but after breaking up in 2014, the former members have rarely seen eye to eye.

The heart of the matter

A triple threat match between Balor Club and The Shield members sounds like an interesting matchup at the least but it seems that WWE isn’t ready to set it up just yet. Finn just returned from his shoulder injury as of April 2017 and is locked will most likely be locked up in a rivalry with Bray Wyatt.

This proves that WWE isn’t ready to give Finn the heel turn he needs to be the leader of The Club at the moment.

What’s next?

Finn will probably assume control of The Club now that AJ Styles has nothing to do with them and a matchup of this calibre between Balor Club and The Shield could be a huge game changer for Gallows and Anderson, who are struggling as a tag team at best.

The Tag Team scene in WWE is currently at its best with teams like The Revival and the ever-popular Hardy Boyz dominating the title picture on Raw.

Author’s take

WWE has been teasing Balor Club for way too long now and the fans, as well as the critics, are eager to see a return of The Shield in their former glory. With Reigns, Rollins and Ambrose all on Raw, the reunion is a sure shot possibility.

With a well-booked match, this rivalry could really make a splash in the current storyline coupled with the revival of Gallows’ and Anderson’s careers.
