WWE Rumors: Did Roman Reigns' Wellness Policy violation prompt WWE to make Dean Ambrose the champion?
We reported earlier that the decision to crown Dean Ambrose the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion was made quite close to the actual event. Given WWE’s proclivity to make changes in the eleventh hour, that's not entirely surprising.
But it does shed light on another facet of the whole situation, which is Roman Reigns' suspension. Wrestling Observer Newsletter unfailingly reported that WWE officials were aware of Reigns’ violation before Money In The Bank.
That brings up the question of the extent to which Reigns’ offence influenced the WWE’s move to have him drop the title to Rollins and then have Ambrose cash in the contract. As of now, there is nothing to indicate that it played any role in the unfolding of things, but this might be a case of the unrevealed being more telling than what is in the light.
The WWE still hasn’t changed the advertising for the triple threat match between Reigns, Ambrose and Rollins for the title at Battleground. Reigns is still featured in the promos, as recent as this week’s edition of Main Event. The first indication that the match is unaffected came on this week’s episode of SmackDown, where a promo aired on the titantron. It is entirely possible for Reigns to return at Battleground on July 24th because his suspension will end on July 21st .
