WWE Rumors: Samoa Joe to make his main roster debut in the Royal Rumble match

The landscape of either RAW or SmackDown is about to drastically change

Samo Joe’s main roster debut is what every pro wrestling fan has been waiting to witness ever since the Samoan Submission Machine made his NXT debut back in May 2015. The speculation on his eventual main roster call-up has gathered steam in recent weeks, and the latest scoop regarding the much-anticipated debut is set to excite the fans even further.

According to reports from IWNerd, WWE is planning on introducing Samoa Joe as one of the surprise entrants in the 2017 Royal Rumble match. Earlier reports stated that he was scheduled to kickstart his main roster run on one of the  RAW or SmackDown episodes leading up to the event, but considering the shock value that comes along with an unforeseen surprise entrant; it may be what’s best for Joe.

His NXT run has been nothing short of incredible as the former TNA Champion held the prestigious NXT Championship on two occasions. He is the first man in history to win the title twice, having held the title for a combined total of 135 days.

After an uninterrupted reign, Joe dropped the title to Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn II. He reclaimed the strap at NXT Takeover: Toronto; much to the shock of the NXT Universe. His second title reign didn’t last long as Nakamura regained the championship at the monumental NXT live event in Osaka, Japan. Below are the highlights of the match:

The two NXT standouts faced each other again with the title on the line at the most recent NXT house show in Melbourne, in a hellacious Steel Cage match. Shinsuke Nakamura successfully retained the title and thus, gave WWE the opportunity to relieve Joe of his NXT duties.

What adds fuel to Joe’s impending call-up coming soon was the fact that he was left out of the latest NXT tapings, This is an indication that the veteran will no longer be a part of NXT television and is gearing up for a career in the big leagues.

WWE has also done an excellent job of booking Joe strong before called up to either SmackDown or RAW, by having him regain the NXT title at the Toronto special. Whether he debuts at the Rumble or on a random episode of SmackDown or RAW; one thing is guaranteed, and that is an epic mark-out moment to cherish for a lifetime.
