What's the story?

WWE's injury list continues to grow with each passing day and it's certainly a major concern for the company with WrestleMania 35 just around the corner.

Seth Rollins is reportedly suffering from a bad back but that could be only half of the story as the injury seems to be worse than expected, as per Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer.

In case you didn't know...

The Architect won the Royal Rumble 2019 match and booked his place in the main event of WrestleMania 35, where he is scheduled to take on Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship.

Rollins addressed the WWE Universe on this week's episode of Raw during which he recollected his first match with the Beast Incarnate, Paul Heyman came out and did his usual shtick of unnerving his client's opponent before Dean Ambrose surprisingly made his way to the ring. In what seemed like a face turn, Ambrose told his former Shield partner to 'go and slay the beast'. It was revealed after the show that the Lunatic Fringe had gone off script during the segment.

However, this article isn't about the outgoing WWE star but the no.1 contender for the Universal title.

The heart of the matter

On the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer touched upon the topic of Rollins' injury and revealed that he could be more hurt than what was initially perceived.

"So is he like really, I know he’s got a bad back, but is he hurt? I mean he must be hurting worse than they’re letting on. Because it sounded like Kurt Angle before that WrestleMania in Seattle almost,” Meltzer said.

What's next?

Rollins will not be working any matches all throughout February to give his back some much-needed rest. He will be featured on TV in non-wrestling segments to hype up his WrestleMania encounter with the Beast, which will go ahead as planned. Beyond that, he isn't expected to get physical to avoid the risk of aggravating the injury.
