WWE Rumors: Seth Rollins and Triple H set to face off at WrestleMania 33

Triple H turned on his protogé a week after Summerslam

It was rumoured earlier that WWE was looking to have Seth Rollins face Triple H at Royal Rumble instead of Wrestlemania 33, as the company wanted a big match for the Alamodome that could fill the arena’s 60,000 seats.

However, according to a report from All Wrestling Newsthe original plans are back on track, and the match is scheduled to be at Wrestlemania 33.

The report stated that the reason the WWE decided to push the feud, is that they now have Goldberg and Brock Lesnar in the Royal Rumble match. Therefore, the company has decided to keep Triple H's bout with Rollins, for the grandest stage of them all.

The report concluded that the feud between Rollins and Triple H is expected to kick off very soon.

As of now, Seth Rollins is involved in a feud with Chris Jericho and is expected to face Y2J at Roadblock: End Of The Line. If this is the case, it will mark the first time since Fastlane 2015 that Rollins has not been involved in a championship match at a Pay-Per-View.

Since Wrestlemania 31, Rollins was the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and defended the title at every PPV till he got injured. After his return this year, Rollins won the title from Roman Reigns for a couple of minutes, before losing it to Dean Ambrose after the Lunatic Fringe cashed in his Money In The Bank contract.

Overall this year, Rollins has had nine attempts at the championship, being unsuccessful in 8 of those efforts. His feud with Triple H originally began when the Game returned during Rollins’ Fatal-4-Way elimination match for the Vacant Universal Championship and attacked Reigns and Rollins, helping Kevin Owens win the Universal title.

The bout between Triple H and Rollins was rumoured to have been scheduled this year at Wrestlemania 32, but Rollins’ severe injury in November last year, forced him out of a prominent spot on the grandest stage of them all. Plans were then changed to Roman Reigns, challenging Triple H for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the main event of Wrestlemania 32.

Rollins is now a babyface for the first time in over two years. Fans have been awaiting the return of The Game to kick-start one of the most anticipating feuds yet – the mentor vs. the protogé
