What's the story?

We are days away from Royal Rumble, the first PPV of the year for WWE. The Rumble usually sees a few surprise entrants, especially in the Royal Rumble match, and this year's could be no different!

According to PWInsiderElite, five Superstars - Matt Hardy, Bray Wyatt, Tye Dillinger, Luke Harper, and Erick Rowan are cleared to wrestle at Sunday's show and could be surprise entrants.

In case you didn't know...

Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt, who won the RAW Tag Team championship in 2018, have both been off WWE television as Hardy had to recuperate from his injuries. Tye Dillinger, who returned last week for a WWE Main Event taping, has been off television due to having hand surgery.

Meanwhile, the team of Luke Harper and Erick Rowan, the Bludgeon Brothers, have also been cleared to wrestle after both Superstars were out injured for a while. The former SmackDown Tag Team championships may well return at Royal Rumble in the men's Royal Rumble match.

The heart of the matter

So far, WWE have announced 20 entrants for the men's Royal Rumble match, but that number could go down by one if John Cena is pulled out of the event due to injury.

The five Superstars mentioned in the list could be surprise entrants in the 30-man over-the-top-rope competition, while we could see a few NXT stars, as well as those that are to be added to the main roster, namely EC3, Lars Sullivan, and Heavy Machinery.
