WWE Rumors: The Usos to turn heel soon
The Usos debuted on WWE television in 2010. They are 6-year veterans and are two-time tag team champions. They won the Slammy Award in 2014 and 2015 for Tag Team Of The Year. The 2015 selection of them as Tag Team of the year, however, was highly controversial, as they had been absent for about 6 months that year, and The New Day emerged as the top tag team in the division while they were gone. Ultimately, nothing can be done as the Slammy’s are awarded through a legitimate voting system, and are not rigged.
The Usos were featured with Roman Reigns from October 2015 to May 2016, with their association ending after their and Roman Reigns feud with The Club (AJ Styles, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson).
After this program, The Usos were barely on television because Jey Uso was injured. However, they were picked during the draft to Smackdown Live as one of the top tag teams, and have been featured along with the other tag teams, but not as prominently featured as the top babyface tag team of Smackdown Live: American Alpha.
American Alpha got called up to Smackdown Live during the draft, and since then are being built to be the top babyface tag team of Smackdown Live. The problem is that Smackdown Live has a rather shallow tag team roster, with the likes of The Vaudevillains, The Hype Bros, The Ascension, Breezango, The Usos and American Alpha themselves.
It is clear that in this mix, The Usos are a clear Number 2. And out of all the mentioned teams above, The Usos are the only ones with credibility. As noted on the Summerslam kick off the show, The Usos had a bit of a misunderstanding with American Alpha, teasing heat between the two teams. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter pointed this out and said that it is expected that The Usos will be turning heel to begin a feud with American Alpha to help elevate them, and the tag team division on Smackdown Live.
This would be a very welcome change as The Usos have been on a rather bland babyface run, and the crowd reacts negatively to them as well. It is no doubt that The Usos are very skilled athletes, and it would be great for them to have a character refresh, and also to organically give the crowd a reason to react negatively to them.
