What's the story?

According to the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, NXT Tag Team champions The Street Profits have not been officially called up to WWE’s main roster, despite their appearance on the July 1 episode of Monday Night Raw.

In case you didn't know…

WWE recently announced that Paul Heyman will oversee the creative direction of Raw in a new behind-the-scenes role as the brand’s Executive Director.

In the first episode of Raw under the new regime, Heyman’s only on-screen appearance came when he was interrupted in a backstage interview by Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford, who tried to joke around with Brock Lesnar’s advocate and said they were “bringing the swag” back to Raw.

Following the show, it was unclear whether The Street Profits had become full-time members of the Raw roster or if their appearance was simply a one-off.

The heart of the matter

Speaking on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that The Street Profits will continue to appear on future episodes of Raw but their debut on July 1 was not an official call-up.

“There was a lot of politics involved in the Street Profits thing, but they’re still technically NXT wrestlers. It was not a call-up but they are going to be on Raw TV. I think that was a Heyman move to have new faces on the show. When someone starts, you always want new faces, you always want young talent and you want to create new, wild stories.”

What's next?

The Street Profits became the new NXT Tag Team champions in a Fatal 4-Way ladder match at NXT TakeOver: XXV in June, so they will almost certainly defend the titles at NXT TakeOver: Toronto during SummerSlam weekend on August 10.
