WWE WrestleMania 33 Rumors: Update on plans for Samoa Joe at WrestleMania and beyond

Samoa Joe fits perfectly as the corporate henchman

What’s the story?

Samoa Joe has been on a roll ever since he debuted on the main roster. Working as Triple H’s henchman, The Destroyer has made an enormous impact on the main roster within weeks of his debut. However, he doesn't have a match at WrestleMania. According to Dave Meltzer, Samoa Joe's role at the Show of Shows will probably be restricted to interfering in the Seth Rollins vs. Triple H match.

In case you didn’t know...

Samoa Joe made a huge impact on his Raw debut by taking out Seth Rollins and reinjuring his knee. Ever since then, he has been Triple H’s henchman and has been a constant thorn in the side of the babyfaces on the roster. His recent association with Kevin Owens has also generated quite some buzz.

The heart of the matter

Despite his incredible run in the past few weeks, Samoa Joe is not on the card for this year’s WrestleMania. While several fans expect Joe to be present in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal, Allwrestlingnews reports that this may not happen.

According to Dave Meltzer, Joe will most likely be involved in the Rollins vs.  Triple H match at WrestleMania 33 in some capacity. The company is said to be planning for a feud between Rollins and Joe post-WrestleMania, so it's likely that we see some sort of angle take place.

What next?

This Sunday, Seth Rollins will have his shot at redemption when he goes one-on-one with his mentor Triple H. Since Seth Rollins has not yet been medically cleared to compete, the match will not be sanctioned.

Author’s take

A feud between Rollins and Samoa Joe is long overdue. Given the fact that Joe was the one responsible for reinjuring Rollins’ knee, a feud between the duo is inevitable. WWE’s plans to start the rivalry by involving Joe in the WrestleMania match are sensible. Apart from ensuring the start of a new feud, it also provides a legitimate excuse for Rollins to fail in his attempt at redemption.
