What's the story?

As per Wrestling Observer Radio (via Cagesideseats.com), Dave Meltzer has reported that Vince McMahon is very concerned about the optics of WWE stars leaving. He further stated that the Chairman wants the perception that his guys don’t leave.

This comes in light of many Superstars including The Revival and Mike Kanellis asking for their release, as well as Dean Ambrose not re-signing with the WWE once his contract is up in April.

In case you didn't know...

Cody along with The Young Bucks, with the financial backing from Tony Khan has announced a new promotion called AEW which will be having its first event - Double or Nothing - in May. The promotion is reportedly offering major contracts to Superstars and already have former WWE stars such as Chris Jericho and PAC (Neville) on board.

This has resulted in WWE renegotiating contacts with many of the Superstars in order to prevent them from jumping ship.

The heart of the matter

With the report stating that Vince McMahon is concerned with the current state of things, it looks like the Chairman has finally realized that AEW is a threat to be taken seriously.

Even though WWE has a huge talent pool, many of the Superstars are not happy with the way they have been booked recently and with new opportunities coming up, are looking to leave.

The Revival finally winning the RAW Tag Team Championships this past Monday could be a result of the same.

What's next?

With Wrestlemania 35 just around the corner, WWE would want the morale of the locker room high. Not only that, but McMahon also wants to maintain the perception that WWE Superstars do not leave the company.
