What’s the story?

Randy Orton vs AJ Styles was supposed to be the first match of WrestleMania but just as Hulk Hogan and Alexa Bliss were done with their promos, Paul Heyman walked out. The show of all shows kicked off with a bang with Seth Rollins taking on Brock Lesnar and it left everyone stunned.

Wrestling Observer Newsletter now reports that the decision to change the match card was done in the very last minute. Hulk Hogan reportedly had no clue what Heyman was doing walking down the ramp and that was the reason for his shocked reaction.

In case you didn’t know…

WrestleMania was full of surprises as the match card and match endings were not how the WWE Universe expected.

The heart of the matter

Talking about the change in match card, Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com said:

“Believe it or not the show had already started. They rearranged the order of the show that [the Universal Title] match would go on after they had already started. It was actually 5:30 local time before the switch was made to put them on first.”
“Hogan when he was doing his promo had no idea what Paul Heyman was doing when he was walking out because when Hogan was told what he was supposed to do, his little shtick that wasn’t gonna happen and I guess nobody told him that they had switched it.”

What’s next?

Vince McMahon has made some stunning last-minute decisions and this might be one of the best ever. The match really set the stage of WrestleMania and the fans were left thrilled at the end. More of these things and the WWE Universe will not be complaining one bit.
