WWE Rumors: WWE accidentally confirms WrestleMania title match on Instagram
What's the story?
While the direction of the WWE Championship has been crystal clear since Kofi Kingston got replaced by Kevin Owens at Fastlane, the match itself hasn't been made official. However, WWE on Instagram accidentally leaked the match poster, revealing the challenger for Daniel Bryan's WWE Championship at WrestleMania.
In case you didn't know...
Daniel Bryan has been WWE Champion since November 2018, when he dethroned AJ Styles to end his 365-day WWE Championship reign. He turned heel in the process, doing so for the first time in nearly 7 years at the time.
He's found his stride as a heel, with the WWE Universe turning on him despite being a beloved fan favourite for years. Kofi Kingston, on the other hand, received the WWE Championship opportunity out of pure chance (Mustafa Ali's injury) and then took the ball and ran with it.
He would come extremely close to winning the title but was unable to do so at the Elimination Chamber. On SmackDown, Vince McMahon has been putting hurdle after hurdle in front of Kingston to get a WWE title shot at WrestleMania, basically setting him up to fail.
The heart of the matter
Reddit user u/supjoshlol posted a screenshot of WWE's Instagram post, seemingly confirming Daniel Bryan vs Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania.
Unsurprisingly, the post was pulled down from Instagram. But the match graphic clearly shows the legitimacy of the post. Either way, it's absolutely exciting to know that Kofi Kingston will be getting the WWE Championship opportunity that he's long overdue for.
Hopefully, it translates to a historic win for the New Day member.
What's next?
The road to WrestleMania is quickly winding up, and it's going to be interesting to see what happens on the SmackDown Live side of things.
