WWE Rumors: WWE makes last-minute change to Brock Lesnar vs Seth Rollins on Raw
What's the story?
Brock Lesnar defends his Universal Championship against Seth Rollins this weekend at WrestleMania but whilst Rollins gained the upper hand heading into the show, it appears that this wasn't the original plan.
In case you didn't know...
Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar have collided in the ring on more than one occasion, the last one came when Rollins defended his World Heavyweight Championship against The Beast back at Battleground in 2015 and he needed The Undertaker's assistance to overcome the former Champion.
Rollins has been working towards this moment ever since and last night on Raw he was able to send a definitive message to The Beast ahead of their match when he low-blowed him twice and delivered his patented Curb Stomp.
The heart of the matter
Seth Rollins left Monday Night Raw with the momentum last night when he was able to send a message to Brock Lesnar just six days before their match. According to a report by The Wrestling Observer, this wasn't the original plan for the segment since this was supposed to see Brock Lesnar layout Rollins and walk into WrestleMania as a defiant Champion.
Rollins recently spoke to Newsweek where he talked about his vision for the future of WWE which includes him defeating Brock Lesnar this weekend.
"What I hope is winning the Universal Title will refocus some of the guys on the roster, because on Brock Lesnar, [the title] was out of reach for them," Rollins said.
"Who is Brock Lesnar going to fight? Just by sheer numbers, he only has four or five matches a year so the odds getting a title shot are so slim. And now the opportunity will hopefully motivate and push guys to work harder and get to the next level.
"And hopefully, that inspires the next generation to come in and take those spots. And that inspiration will move us forward because the title was being held hostage by Brock Lesnar," he said via WrestlingInc.
What's next?
The Beast and The Architect collide this weekend at WrestleMania in the semi-main event match of the night for the Universal Championship.
