WWE Rumors: WWE nixed two plans for The Undertaker at WrestleMania 35
What’s the story?
The Undertaker not being at WrestleMania surprised a lot of fans. While the Phenom was in the arena, it was just for creative reasons that he was not used.
Reports now suggest that WWE had two plans in place for him before they were nixed.
In case you didn’t know…
The Undertaker was on the verge of equalling Kane's record of most consecutive appearances at WrestleMania (19) but could not do it as WWE Creative did not have a plan in place for him.
The Dead Man was in the arena on Sunday, along with his wife, Michelle McCool.
The heart of the matter
Despite not being used at WrestleMania for 'lack of plans', reports suggest that The Undertaker actually had two of them in the pipeline. It looks like the WWE Creative team (or Vince McMahon) decided not to go ahead with it.
Talking on the Oh, You Didn't Know podcast, Brad Shepard revealed that there was a plan for The Undertaker to come and save Kurt Angle after his match vs Baron Corbin. He said,
“The American Badass version of The Undertaker was originally going to save Kurt Angle after Kurt had lost to Baron Corbin and then Baron Corbin attack Kurt after the match. That plan was scrapped on Sunday, the day of WrestleMania.”
The other report suggests that The Undertaker was the one who was supposed to interrupt the performance of Elias and not John Cena. The Doctor of Thuganomics made his return at The Grandest Stage of Them All and left the fans stunned.
What’s next?
The Undertaker made his WWE return on Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania and interrupted Elias' performance. The Dead Man is now reportedly set to face Elias at the Saudi Arabian pay-per-view next month.
