WWE Rumours: WWE officials high on Tony Nese

Is Tony Nese destined for Cruiserweight greatness?

Leading up to the debut of the Cruiserweight division, only a handful of top names were announced such as Rich Swann, Gran Metalik, Noam Dar, TJ Perkins, Akira Tozawa, Jack Gallagher, Tomasso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Cedric Alexander, etc.

However, few weeks into the division, WWE have seemingly signed more names such as Ariya Daivari, Lince Dorado, and Tony Neese. They even put Sin Cara in the Cruiserweight division.

Tony Neese made his debut on Raw facing Cruiserweight Champion TJ Perkins in a non-title match, in which he was defeated. However, the week after that, he defeated Full Sail fan favourite Rich Swann in a singles match.

Dailywrestlingnews.com has reported that WWE officials are very high on Tony Nese right now. The report says that he is scheduled to get a Cruiserweight Championship match in the near future and there has even been a consideration into giving him a run with the championship belt as well.

It is not surprising that Tony Nese has impressed the WWE officials. He has a great look, build and is very athletic. He is the prototype that the WWE looks for, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him go far.

In fact, he and Cedric Alexander would be a safe bet as to which two stars from the current Cruiserweight Division will transcend the division and go on to achieve much bigger things. Nonetheless, there is the first step to everything, and in the grand scheme of things, there is no better way to start off than in the brand new Cruiserweight division.

Tony Nese was knocked out in the second round of the Cruiserweight Classic by Brian Kendrick, who was defeated by Kota Ibushi in the quarter-finals. However, Kendrick is now in the main picture of the Cruiserweight division, feuding with Champion TJ Perkins and facing him in Hell In A Cell.

Perhaps we could see a Tony Nese vs TJ Perkins or Brian Kendrick match at Survivor Series. Right now, quite some of the big names are yet to debut. Noam Dar was backstage this week on Raw but has not yet debuted. Johnny Gargano, Tomasso Ciampa and Jack Gallagher have all finished up their independent dates, and are waiting to debut.

It may also be very likely that we could see Tony Neese in NXT as well, as the Cruiserweights seem to be doing double-duty between NXT and Raw.
