WWE Rumors: WWE originally had a different opponent in mind for Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania

What's the story?

Charlotte Flair will face Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania in less than two months' time, but originally WWE had another person in mind to face the former UFC Champion at the Show of Shows.

In case you didn't know...

Becky Lynch won the Royal Rumble last month in order to face Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania, but on Monday Night when Lynch refused to apologize to the McMahon family, Vince decided to suspend her from the company for 60 days.

Charlotte has since replaced Lynch at WrestleMania and whilst it's expected that Becky will be added to the match once again in the future, at present Charlotte is set to face Ronda Rousey in a one-on-one match at WrestleMania 35 on April 7th.

The heart of the matter

Ronda Rousey's WrestleMania opponent has changed several times over the past few months, but according to a report by Ringsidenews, the original plan was for Natalya to face off against her former friend in the WrestleMania main event.

Natalya was supposed to turn heel and open a feud with Rousey but her father's passing forced WWE to nix the storyline and they instead decided that Charlotte should take her place. After WWE was forced to give this match away at Survivor Series due to Lynch's injury, Becky Lynch was then given the match against Rousey, but obviously, Charlotte has now been put back into the prime position.

What's next?

It is thought that Rousey will defend her Raw Women's Championship at WrestleMania 35 in a triple threat match against both Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair, but at present WWE still has to find a way to add Lynch to the match.
