Will AEW manage to lure away top WWE talents?
Will AEW manage to lure away top WWE talents?

What's the story?

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is surely giving WWE a run for their money when it comes to keeping hold of some of their most talented prospects. So what is WWE doing in order to hold onto to some of their unhappy employees?

Well, the company isn't too pleased with the word getting out regarding superstars wanting to leave and are doing their best to manage the concerning situation.

In case you didn't know...

AEW, which has been funded by businessmen Shahid and Tony Khan, are making all the right noises ever since the official announcement of their existence came to light.

Helmed by Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks in executive vice president roles, AEW is trying to sign in top talents from around the world by offering them lucrative contracts that are on par with the WWE. The Revival reportedly asked for their WWE release but were turned down by the officials.

It seems many other WWE talents have also been aggressively targeted with eye-catching deals by AEW and it has created an unlikely atmosphere backstage in the WWE.

Sasha Banks too recently teased walking out of the WWE along with Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson and with each passing day, the murmurs regarding all the possible names who could quit the company have only grown louder.

However, what's WWE's stance on AEW poaching their stars?

The heart of the matter

Dave Meltzer touched upon the topic of WWE having a new competitor in town and said that WWE doesn't want the news about their stars wanting to leave to get out. More importantly, they don't want their fans to know that most of these unhappy stars want to jump ship to AEW.

Vince McMahon and co. are trying their best to keep its talents happy and is doing so by granting pushes to superstars who find AEW's advances appealing.

WWE Creative is of the idea that by pushing the likes of Revival and Andrade Cien Almas, they could prevent losing the aforementioned stars and also others who are discontented with their current status.

In the current day and age where backstage rumours are hard to contain, WWE wants to plug in all the holes that could leak unwanted information to the rumour mills.

What's next?

WWE has an insanely deep roster and is more than equipped to deal with a mass exodus. However, they wouldn't want to lose their best talents to a company which aims at upstaging the promotion that has monopolized the pro wrestling industry for decades.

Nonetheless, 2019 is set to be a great year for pro wrestling fans.
