WWE Rumors: WWE reportedly scrapped original feud idea for Dolph ZigglerÂ
What's the story?
Dolph Ziggler is currently part of a storyline with Kevin Owens but according to a report by Fightful, Ziggler was originally supposed to be part of a feud with Ali.
In case you didn't know...
Dolph Ziggler missed this year's WrestleMania because he was given leave from WWE to be part of his own comedy tour. When The Showoff did make his return to WWE, he was slotted into the WWE Championship picture because Kevin Owens refused to make the trip over to Saudi Arabia for Super ShowDown.
Ziggler lost his match in The Middle East before he was given a rematch and lost inside a steel cage at Stomping Grounds last month. Ziggler has since stepped into a feud with Kevin Owens since the two stars found it hard to co-exist as part of a tag team match last week on SmackDown Live.
The heart of the matter
Dolph Ziggler wasn't originally supposed to be feuding with Kevin Owens heading into The Biggest Party of the Summer. According to a report by Fightful, Ziggler and Ali should have crossed paths instead but WWE has now "tabled" this feud in favor of the storyline that is currently on-going with Ziggler and Owens.
Eric Bischoff is still yet to take the reins on SmackDown Live, so it will be interesting to see if Bischoff changes any of the upcoming feuds or finds a way to insert Ali and his new gimmick into the SmackDown Live picture heading into SummerSlam.
What's next?
Ziggler and Owens are expected to continue to feud over the next few weeks leading up to SummerSlam after Owens attacked Ziggler when the two men were unable to co-exist last week.
