WWE Rumours: Beth Phoenix to return to WWE?
In a surprising post, WWE superstar Natalya posted an image on Instagram that shows her holding hands with former WWE superstar Beth Phoenix.
What is surprising about the image is its caption, where Natalya says “Can’t wait to see you soon! The countdown begins...” Could the ‘Queen of Harts’ be hinting at a potential return for Beth?
#TBT with the one and only @bethkocianski! Can't wait to see you soon! The countdown begins..... #GlamSlam #QueenOfHarts #DivasOfDoom
Beth has been missing from WWE television for a while now and a return might up the stakes a bit more. Following the draft, SmackDown has been handing over a drubbing to Monday Night RAW week after week and Beth’s inclusion in the SmackDown roster could spell doom for the women there.
The main event scene on RAW is already very crowed with Sasha, Bayley and Charlotte all caught up in a bid to secure the Women’s title. There are also rumours of WWE planning a feud between Charlotte and her protégé Dana Brooke. Add to that, the dominating Nia Jax who is waiting for an opportunity to move into the main event scene.
A place in the SmackDown roster would be much more suitable for 'The Glamazon' Beth. Becky Lynch, the current SmackDown Women’s Champion is currently working with upcoming talent, Alexa Bliss. Beth could enter the picture after the No Mercy clash.
Given that Becky is a clear favourite against Alexa Bliss, it is safe to assume that she will retain the title at the pay-per-view. Beth could emerge as a heel and challenge Becky for the title that she has already won three times in the past.
Natalya and Becky have had their issues in the past, and if we were to go by the picture alone, it could well be that Beth’s return might reignite that flame and turn into a triple threat for the title.
There are a number of possibilities that fans can ponder upon but it is also important to note that it is just a picture and this whole thing could just be a rumour.
Former WWE Divas and Women's Champion Beth Phoenix and partner Edge recently had their second child, a baby girl named Ruby and wrestling might not be her first priority right now. However, given the love affair that Edge has had with SmackDown, it would be a good feeling to see Beth light up the ring for the blue brand once again.
