WWE Rumours: Plans for the WWE Women's Championship revealed?
At Summerslam, Charlotte defeated Sasha Banks clean to regain the WWE Women’s Champion just around a month after losing it. This came as a surprise to many, as they believed Sasha Banks was a lock to win with her title reign having just begun. However, shortly after that it was announced that Sasha Banks was removed from future appearances for the next 33 days with many speculating that Sasha was being given a break to heal up some niggling injuries.
With The Boss gone, Raw needed a new top babyface with Paige was suspended, and they seem to barely be utilizing the other women such as Summer Rae and Alicia Fox. Not to mention, Nia Jax isn’t exactly a babyface, and she is being kept apart from the rest of the women’s division for now and just facing jobbers every week. Thus, who could be a better option than the hottest female free agent who’d just her final match at NXT, Bayley!
When Mick Foley introduced Bayley to Raw, she instantly confronted Charlotte and threw out a challenge for the WWE Women’s Champion, but instead got a match with Dana Brooke, whom she defeated.
With the lack of any other female babyfaces on Raw, it looks like Bayley will, in fact, be getting a shot at the WWE Women’s Championship at Clash Of Champions. However, it is being said that she will not be winning the championship and that WWE is looking for a Sasha Banks vs Charlotte match right off the bat as soon as Sasha Banks returns.
A very likely scenario is that Bayley loses(probably with Charlotte cheating) and Sasha then returns for the save. By Clash Of Champions, she will just be a few days off from returning to the ring. Her return could also happen on Raw as well. Don’t be surprised if The Boss regains the title right off the bat.
Bayley not winning the championship immediately would definitely be the right decision, since her character is a natural underdog character where the money is in the chase. Also, there is a rumor of WWE planning a Sasha Banks vs Bayley match at Wrestlemania. If that does come to fruition, it will be very interesting to see, as there would be a high possibility of Sasha being a heel again, while Bayley is the babyface challenger. It is well known that Sasha truly hit her stride at NXT as a heel, and it would be interesting to see her take it to the next level on the main roster.
