WWE Rumours: Possible location of the Royal Rumble 2017 revealed
Royal Rumble is one of the Big Four Pay-Per-Views of WWE, apart from Wrestlemania, Summerslam & Survivor Series. It is where the road to Wrestlemania begins as all the feuds start to build up from there. Some are long-term feuds that have been built over the course of a year, while some just see its beginning. Either way, it is the beginning of the most exciting period in the pro-wrestling calendar.
Next year’s Royal Rumble is set to take place in Los Angeles. While WWE has denied it, multiple sources are reporting that the Rumble will take place at The Staples Center. The coming episode of Raw is in Los Angeles, so it is expected that the announcement will be made then.
It must be noted that the Royal Rumble is expected to be preceded by an NXT Takeover special the night before. This is part of WWE’s decision to make a weekend of Big Four PPVs. This November will see Survivor Series weekend being preceded by NXT Takeover: Toronto, which is a good way of attracting travelling fans. So a special titled NXT Takeover: LA can be fully expected, and it will most likely be at the Staples Center itself.
Many have considered the Royal Rumble winners of the past six years to be quite disappointing, arguing that Edge was the last Royal Rumble winner who fans mutually agreed was truly deserving.
There has been general unsatisfaction over the finish of the Rumble matches. However, this year’s Royal Rumble was an extremely solid PPV that saw all Championships being defended and also saw the debut of AJ Styles in the Royal Rumble match. Nine months later, and he is already the WWE World Champion.
What is interesting about next year’s Rumble is that there are two world titles again, so the winner will get an option of choosing to face either the Universal Champion on Raw or the WWE World Champion on Smackdown Live. Either way, that element of anticipating who the winner chooses to face is indeed an exciting prospect.
It is being rumored that Finn Balor, the former and inaugural Universal Champion, may make his return at the Rumble. If that is so, then there is a high chance of The Demon King getting a chance to reclaim the title that he never lost at the grandest stage of them all. Also, a possible Sheild reunion has been rumoured to happen at the PPV and that is just the icing on the cake.
